| The crime of Spyware [+ favourites]
Tonight I ran my computer without a firewall for about 30 minutes, and in that time I acquired 55 spyware virusses. These virusses usually have these symptoms: 1. You will get popups on random pages. Test it on google. If you browse google and get any popups, you have spyware installed. Same with Captain Cynic. 2. If pages sometimes take a few seconds to initialize, then load. When this happens it's like the entire browser freezes. This is spyware. 3. When your computer "tanks". If you press control+alt+dlete and see the little green meter in the bottom right corner is at 100%, likely, you have a virus or two installed. 4. You lose internet connectivity randomly that is fixed when you reboot. All in all, if you don't know much about spyware or virusses, you probably are infected with something. Free Solution: http://www.spybot.info/en/index.html These guys have a free downloader with no ads. It checks and cleans up any and all spyware. It's not a virus cleaner, but I find that virusses are harder to attain that spyware is now. I'm a full on nerd, and I use this program.
