It may be a little late but, about the Captain Planet and Colossus, they are very different, it was the possition, but I search for images of the two of them and saw the difference.

But you got to admit that they look alike (if that's how I should say) in this images <the images are very little but still, try to see the resemblance>

What I still can't explain is how this two Colossus are the same guy (I just see the same uniform, I mean the red and yellow thing over his body)

Would you believe me if I tell you these were once my favorite superheroes (you can laugh as much as you want)

I realized the colossus captain planet similarity when you brought it up, because I do see the resemblance, the second two pictures I'm not sure your confusion, they look the same just different posistions and backround color.

I used to love the turtles and drew them quite often, I just don't seem to have those particular drawings anymore or I'd show you, a friend and I got to dressing our favorite ones, mine being Rafeal (sp), his Donatello, in our favorite super hero costumes, so raph got the superman job and Donatello became Batman, I enjoyed that thuroughly.

And this was back when they first came out. So no judgement here.

In the "second two pictures", Colossus' ones, I think the first one is an evolution of the second one, look the difference in the muscles and in the head

In the pictures comparison, I think that the one that I described like the evolution is fatter and look at the skin is different

That kind of difference comes mainly through artist style, look at your two pictures of ninja turtles, they look quite different but are both obviously ninja turtles.

Colossus looks much slimmer in the picture with the white background, and therefore much more like captain planet... also i still say its that pose that makes them seem similar.
