Bow Yow is dead on. What happens (technically) is when you login a small file is placed on yoru computer, identifying you as who you are. It's encrypted, so you can't access the info, but Captain Cynic can because it is the site that encrypted it. Well, each one of these files (called cookies) have an expiry date on them. So as Bow Yow said, if you click on "Remember me" on the login screen we put an expiry date that is far into the future, which will basically never come. If you don't then the cookie is placed for the "lifetime of the browser"... and basically what that means is every time you refresh the page, it is updated. If you close the browser, it will be deleted. If you leave it on and don't refresh for like 20 minutes or something, it will be deleted. This is the case with a majority of sites on the internet, and isn't unique to us. Hope this answers your question!
