The Chronicles of Riddick [+ favourites]

I just saw this movie tonight, and enjoyed it greatly. I was expecting just another basic sci-fi action film, but my friends sort of pressured me into seeing it.

I just loved it. I was never bored, like with most of the action-adventure out today, and never felt like the exact same ideas were just being rehashed. It was quite original and filled with great action sequences to keep you into it.

This looks to be getting quite a negative critical response, but I say don't listen to them on this one, as it's somewhat of a gem.

Tell me what you think on it.

Nah, it's a sequel/continuation to Pitch Black, although I understand how you could assume it's a prequel. You really don't need to have seen Pitch Black to see Riddick but it could help.

Sorry about that Wyote! Good point. I just assumed since I posted it the night of release no one would have talked about it much, I guess I didn't take into account the fact that there might be a thread dedicated to it before it was released.

It was a good movie, but my friends and I couldn't help but crack up at those mentally challenged tracker guys, and also the part where Vin angrily screams at the prisoners with him to get moving. For some reason, that was just hilarious.

We just rewatched Pitch Black, then the anime - The Chronicles of Riddick - Dark Fury, then went to see the new film. To see it order. Great fun. I'd recommend it for those who want to see Chronicles. The anime film DVD has the menu screwed up (in my opinion). Before playing the film (it is only 31 minutes long), go to special features and chose the 'anime to animated' or whatever it says. That is a sketch driven version with voices but no sound effects. See that first. Then go back and play the 'finished' version. Great way to see the progress and progression of the medium.
