The Battle of Algiers [+ favourites]

I recently saw a movie called The Battle of Algiers. It was made in 1965 and goes pretty deeply into the Algerian rebellion of the 50's and 60's against the French colonists in the capital of Algiers.

It was made incredibly realistically for an older film, and the beginning even features a statement that no new reels were used in the film.

The main reason I brought this up is because it really reminded of Iraq. I saw quite clearly how many Iraqis must think of us: foriegn colonists. I suggest seeing it as it still ties in today, and on top of that is quite entertaining.

Tthe french were screwed from the begining because they litterally were colonizing the place.
There was a substantial french minority in Algeria and so leaving was a much more difficul then will be for America in Iraq.
Still it seems to show how constant tampering from outsiders has messed up the whole place.

Except the French weren't being resisted from the beginning.
