Synopsis: In a futuristic post WW3 a new order of "Clerics" arise to take control of the population to protect humanity from another calamity. Their idealogy dictates that human emotion is the reason for war, and manufacture a legally required drug to limit emotional human reactions.

Review: Christian Bale, Taye Diggs, and Sean Bean star. This film was made to balance out the success of the Matrix, but is quite a different movie.

It is extremely reminiscent of 1984, and uses the "Big Brother is watching" theme quite a lot, which is definitely enjoyable. The action sequences are quite good and the movie has touching moments where it really explores the human emotional spirit. The reason I compliement these moments is that they could have been messed up very badly, and most of the time they did not. As the story goes, one of the top Clerics (Bale) begins to feel and we follow him as he tries (like a child) to cope with "feeling" his first sunrise, or hearing music for the first time (music being illegal because it promotes emotional response).

Unfortunately it is not an entirely unique movie and follows a predetermined plot, which is unfortunate since the general idea of the movie is quite good.

Cool Moment: As Bale stands off with Taye we expect a full lengthy battle of stamina and strength... only to reveal a 3 second fight with Bale slicing the front of Taye's head off in one move.

i didnt think anyone else had seen this movie! and to be honest, i had forgotten all about it up until today when i stumbled upon this thread i loved this movie. the whole idea of a "gun kada" was very intriguing. the only downfall of this movie was the end... just when you think a lot of cool things are about to happen.... the movie ends! i was frustrated, but after i thought about it i was satisfied.

8/10

I had been wary of this but once but had planned to watch cause of bail and interesting premise, especially now that Bale is Batman, and will be for at least 3 movies, but bale is just intense no matter what.

It was kinda slow, but I was in the right mood when I just rented it, come to think of it I just took it back, well yesterday now technically.

But still, good movie, stylish, obvious matrix clone in ways but not enough to kill anything.

He takes Brad's tortured soul type parts that include either a little or a whole helluva lot of insanity. American Psycho anyone? Batmans nuts too, and this character was out there, and the one about to come out he lost like 70 pounds for and seems like a twisted movie, plus he keeps fairly buff and with my comic mentality and and the artistic and personal appreciation of muscles and strength I find him more appealing as an actor.
