Kill Bill [+ favourites]

My Review:

The movie itself was good... a good mixture of japanese warriordom with a western feel... but the incessant violence was just disgusting. So unnecessary that it made me feel as if Tarantino actually didn't have anything else to stimulate the audience with, so he tried to disgust them with extra violence.

It baffles me that Scary Movie (comedy) was rated R but a movie as disgustingly violent as this is 18A. Scary Movie had frontal nudity and some suggestive scenes, but nothing as traumatizing as seeing Lucy Liu's head being cut in half, displaying her brains to us as she bleeds to death.

Stylized well with good music... reasonably good fight scenes although if you're into that, you might as well just watch the Matrix over and over because it is far superior.

Mainly the style and cinematography... but keep a bucket close by in case you are sensitive to ultra-violence depicted with accurately disgusting sounds.

I absolutely loved it. I love Quentin Tarantino, though I was worried this was just going be another action movie.

I was totally wrong, the movie flew by, and I was glued to the screen the whole time.

If you are disgusted by blood and guts, you probably don't like any Tarantino movies, but this one is excessive. Some of the bloody scenes are overdone with humor (like how he repetively uses blood spraying from severed limb stumps).

The Lucy Liu getting-head-cut-in-half scene was way out of line, I agree.

dood man

18A is a more restricted movie than R isnt it?

G - general
PG - parental guidance
A - Adult
R- restricted (16 and over)
18A - 18 and over

Maybe... i guess I think there should be another rating for Blood and Guts.

Not censorship, but information. I'd like to avoid movies that make me want to throw up.

And I enjoy other Tarantino movies... which is the only reason I went to watch this movie.... which held no similarity to other Tarantino movies. But it was stylized very well, and no doubt he's a cool director.

but the blood and guts wasn't just "excessive". It was disgusting, and although some of it was meant to be humorous, a lot of it didn't come off that way.

It was unnecessary and didn't make the movie any better, which makes it a blunder on his part, according to me.

I haven't seen Kill Bill yet but I am planning on it. I love Quentin's work, and all of his movies are on my favorites list.

I can't imagine his scenes in Kill Bill are anymore "disgusting" than others. Reminisce about Pulp Fiction and Resevoir Dogs, are you sure this isn't along those same lines?

Curious....

No, wesdawgy, this is different, and it's more. Since about the whole movie is incredible action, about the whole movie is also incredible amounts of blood. Though I also think it's not too hard to stand since as I remember it isn't at all "cover your eyes" type of bloody.

Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs are really bloody, but this has even more.

He Danipog, haven't heard from you in awhile...where ya been?

Yeah...I guess I'll just have to see it, it can not be as graphic as other movies I've seen...not his but others.

I've been really busy, but I still try to check around here pretty often.

Glad somebody notices my absences!

There are some people that deserve to be forgotten, and some that deserve recognition, he he he.

I just watched Pulp Fiction again...after a very long time, and it isn't that bloody after all. There are some scenes, but he doesn't really concentrate on the brainmatter exploded in the back seat of the car.

I agree with Danipog
i loved the movie
and the violence, well it's the funny kind
because it's kinda like in old kung fu movies, seems very fake
so much blood - you gotta love it
awesome camera angles and dialog and everything
i think he did an awesome job
and i don't get why people said they expected more from it ..... i mean you can't make same stuff all the time
he tried something new and i think it worked

can't wait until volume 2 comes out

Kill Bill was thoroughly enjoying for me. fans of anime will definately like it more than your average joe. i think the music was a great indictation of how NOT to take this movie seriously in any way. i simply laughed when Oh-Ren jumped up on the table and gave that guy a menacing look just before casually loping off his head (which looked extremely fake). i found myself cringing a lot more during Resivior Dogs than i did Kill Bill! this movie is definately not for the kiddies tho. Quentin recognizes the impact japanese culture has had on the US lately and has done a terrific job blending the two cultures into a wonderful masterpiece... have i raved enough?

In the UK we have the classifications and a brief guide to the content of the film.

Kill Bill got an 18 and 'Contains frequent, strong, bloody violence and very strong language'

It's pretty much the same in the US, but the descriptions are said at lightning speed in the previews.
