rather then making a new thread for Volume 2, i decided to talk about it here... after all it is still Kill Bill

i absolutely loved this movie. it has a completely different feel to it then the first one. it seemed to me more like an old western type movie. yes the samurai swords were still abundant, but the whole tone was very intense and much more serious then the first movie. David Carradine did a particularly good job in this movie, altho everyone else was fantastic! i will say this tho, if you are looking for simply more action and violence, this movie is not for you. it is very much toned down from the first one, but it does have its moments. another flaw is its predictabilty, this doesnt lesson my opinion of it, but i was expecting a bit more of a twist at the end... which never happend.

Vol. 2:
8/10

both movies as an overall epic:
9/10

I agree completely Wyote. Toned down, but still very violent, and with many parts in a different style, although it doesn't let you forget it's still a tribute to old kung fu flicks.

And I agree, the ending definitely could have had something more.

In my opinion, not as good or captivating as the first, but still a wonderful spectacle.

I just seen Kill Bill Vol 1, finally!
I thought it was a definite 10, and can't wait to see the 2nd (maybe I won't wait as long to see this one). The blood "work" does have that old Kung Fu look, and was a lil funny too, I can't see why a big deal was made out of the blood . Anyway, I liked it and can't wait to see the 2nd Vol.

Although I thought the violence was overdone and unnecessary in the first one, I thought the cinematography was spectacular and stylized awesome.

In comparison, alhtough I enjoyed the second one, I did not think it was very well stylized. And a lot of the monologues between David and Uma were boring.

David was awesome though. Very good presence. All in all Vol 1 was much better, but gory... the second one just seemed a little trying to me.

Good series altogether. Similar to pulp fiction in the sense that you would want to own it at some point in your life.

Thanks for the info. I have been noting the ads for Kill Bill.
I thinking of buying the DVD (?) so which one would you rate bestas a good action flic with a viable plot that you would like to see again after it has been around (shown) for a while?

they were great films. i saw them when the frist came out and have loved ever since. just to bad Q.T could not run it as one film but it would have just to long. my local little place did show them together and that was a lot of fun. love the mix in this film.

I was skeptical about KillBill when it came out- I heard it was gorey and it was - but some movies seem to get buy on that alone. This film was really incredible- It was origional and unpredicatable as someone else stated previously. I did not catch KB2 but I will see it on DVD when ity comes out.

Did this film have too much gore? I think so, I think it is a great film- but the ultra gore factor was not necesary stylisticly or othwise and seems to be a cheap device that I think does damper the qualtiy of this film just a slight bit.
