Sorry nothing so dramatic!

I have decided to submit a question a freind of mine asked me...
Like me, he is not religious and we often spend our maths classes discussing religion. He came up with this question the other day, im keen to see what you come up with...

"If god is so allmighty, can he create a rock so large that even he cannot lift it?"

Haha, well said Wyote bt ill bet in Homer's case he could

But seriously either way you look at this question god 'looses out' if you say 'yes' he can make a rock so heavy he could not lift it then got is infact not limitless. Then again if you say he no there is no rock to heavy for god to lift then once again he is limitless because he cannot creae a rock this large...

ARG! It's stressing me out

But seriously either way you look at being unchanging
yet we see everything as changing?

In fact wasn't that asked somewhere before this thread?

I am one of the lost logicians if you will, but unlike many hard logic people I have felt and experienced the intense feelings that can come from being one of the truly faithful (maybe I'm being presumptious or just don't know what I'm talking about) but what I noticed was that what felt so good was the feeling of there being a loving god and like that god everyone around you is understanding accepting and loving of you on the most basic level, but it was as fleeting as any narcotic or feel from a really good movie, reality just takes precidence eventually, if you are of the logic side, or simply interact with people outside of church. But FYI, my life pain also comes from a not so cheery life.

like the god question about limitless or limited power, to say that god is all powerful and the creator of all, well then where did god come from? I hardly see that question, and never have I recieved an answer other than "I don't know", and "He just always was" Does the bible mention that? He just started creating right?

the initial post talked about how sure the faithful are, and how happy they become because of it, stereotypically speaking, well duh, to live a life of fantasy, denial, or belief as it is also called creates the whole situation, ya know, ignorance is bliss. Its funny, to prescribe to socrates and knowing one does not know, just barely cancels out the bliss from not knowing, because you "know" you do not know, so from now on, i don't know if i know or not, hmmm, kinda better, but like when i "try" to go along with religion, I just feel far too guilty and useless for not thinking for myself.

The judeo-christian (OT) tradition begins with creation but yes it does state that GOD, always has been, always will be, etc. in part this comes from the language. They have tenses in their languages which are not in ours, so they are grammerically added like 'I AM' I believe has this context of implied tenses?

Ya, for myself I found the spirituality of religions tend to form a barrier to faith in many instances.
Allowing my own spirtuality to form & grow brought me closer than trying to be a religious zealot.

How much this fits on topic I don't know, but it is a logical faith issue, I want to know why people don't dig through every nook and cranny to find all the information, truth, and lies that make up the foundations of all major religions, I ask this in comparison to the tenacity in which we will go after all info on presidential candidates.
I know that there are lots of people and professionals on this task, and that its not the same, a living persons history compared to a 2 thousand year old legacy made from a multitude of sources, credible or not, it seems we may never know.
But its the general publics complacency and blind acceptance of words and texts that they use, or are unknowlingly persuaded by, in every decision they make that truly scares me
