Prevention is a part of the governments job. When you needlessly risk someone else's life it is the government's to make sure you don't you!
I mean, what would you say if I started randomly shooting at you with a loaded gun BUT my aim was so bad I missed? I technically did nothing against you except RISK your life, just as a drunk driver risks the lives of others.

Crimson: Driving drunk is not the same as shooting a bullet at me but missing because driving drunk does not cause mental or physical anguish to anyone around me unless I am driving in a way that obstructs or endangers anyone else's ability to drive safely.

You shooting a gun at me mentally affects me and you therefore should not be allowed to do that.

Prevention is not the job of the government because prevention is too vague a term. You can prevent people from dying by closing down clubs and having a curfew at night. What is the limit?

I personally like to drive very very fast. I like to get where I am going and don't like to doddle. I have never been in an accident, I am a very respectful driver and I always signal. Why, therefore, should I be penalized for safely driving at a speed I deem reasonable?

I very strongly believe that with stern punishments prevention is no longer needed. People may drive drunk because the penalties for killing someone while drunk are not harsh enough. People litter because the penalties for such things are not strong enough.

I basically don't believe it is the government's job or responsibility to determine whether I am capable of driving safely at the speed I want to. By doing so they are grouping me in with all the idiots out there who do not know how to drive safely, and this is not fair to me.

The imposing of speed limits originally a factor of road construction, degree of crown , banking of curves,etc which set the limits for safety. Of course today it has become more of conservation of fossil fuel (55) which caused a noticeable decrease in fatlity rate in accidents. You may be the greatest driver in the world but if the rest are the worst in the world, they may cause the accident to happen. I drive sedately within the speed limits yet today a woman with cell phone in hand neearly backed into the side of the car. You may well have the right of way but that doesn't mean you can't be dead in the right.

I used to be a believer of fate but now I believe other wise. Fate as I believe it is rather the choices you make in your life. Cuase and effect. You choose to drink and drive, you might die. If you do, cause and effect. Fate is just choice predetermined by our own thoughts. Nothing more and nothing less. To believe that someone or something is in control of our life is bullshit. What would be the point of living if we can not control what we do? Or the choices we make are preset for us. If life were like that......we'd be nothing more than a video game let alone intelligent.

Edgar Cayce taught that numerology and astrology does map our future or fate. However, we do posses the ability to make our numerology and or astrology profile null and void. Our dreams also tell of our future and of our fate. In the once out laud hawaiian religion, It is said and documented that a great Ka Hana could not only tell the future but change it by controlling their dreams. It was a great Ka Hana who told of the white men who would come to visit and allowed it.

I say if you do nothing today - the sun will still rise tomorrow. What will be, will be.

If however you do something today - when the sun rises the morrow, what will be will have a twist to it.

fate is a large role, i do think there are things are ready set for us, but i also believe that there are two paths we can take, cuz we all have several of choices we have to make in a single day and with each of those choices something good or bad could come from it, fate and our decisions are two things that play a large role in a so called lifes we live in this world, well at least to me that is how i veiw life, just a series of decisions we must make

There is no reason that anything knows the future. Yes there may be predictions, there may be posibilities, but that is all.

Maybe fate is the reason we can't settle for anything less than what we aspire to be. Inevitabley, not one person can waste their life doing something they hate doing. Perhaps a greater power tied fate to happiness as sort of a prank to get us to do the right thing. Just a thought...
