adaptation didn't win best movie. in fact, it didn't win much. my comments on the winners... ACTOR IN A LEADING ROLE Adrien Brody THE PIANIST - cute, but his speech was too long and sappy. and what's up with his constantly puppy-dog eyebrows? ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE Chris Cooper ADAPTATION - yay! good movie! ACTRESS IN A LEADING ROLE Nicole Kidman THE HOURS - yay! gotta go rent that now. ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE Catherine Zeta-Jones CHICAGO - agreed. she did a wicked job. wayyyy pregnant on oscar night too. looked all glowy and barefoot. DIRECTING THE PIANIST Roman Polanski - too bad he can't enter the US to accept his award. DOCUMENTARY FEATURE BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE Michael Moore and Michael Donovan - too bad he got booed off the stage. grrr. BEST PICTURE CHICAGO Martin Richards - good movie. best? i don't know... SOUND CHICAGO Michael Minkler, Dominick Tavella and David Lee - another one for chicago SOUND EDITING THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE TWO TOWERS Ethan Van der Ryn and Michael Hopkins VISUAL EFFECTS THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE TWO TOWERS Jim Rygiel, Joe Letteri, Randall William Cook and Alex Funke - no big suprise there WRITING (ADAPTED SCREENPLAY) THE PIANIST Screenplay by Ronald Harwood WRITING (ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY) TALK TO HER Written by Pedro Almodóvar HONORARY AWARD Peter O'Toole - after being nominated (and not winning!) 7 times, he deserved it. what'd you guys think?
