What does this word mean to you?

To me, it is what drives me. It is also what is stopping me. We yurn for it, or we dispise it. It can make love but it can also kill love.

It has so many diffrent meanings to all of us.

What does it mean to you?

For me it's trouble. If you don't have it you can't pay the bills or anything yet if you do have it you just blow it on things that you really don't need. It can also cause problems because these days more and more ppl are getting credit then they go out and use that credit and don't pay attention to how much they are spending then find themselves in so much debt that they may never get out of it. I can't wait for the day that money is no longer an issue. I just hope that if I don't get to see it that my children do!

Yes, but that isn't answering the question em...

What is money to YOU? It's obviously not trouble, because if it was you wouldn't desire more of it.

You do desire more of it, right?

Actually Decius, it IS trouble to me. Yes I have to have it to survive and keep the bills paid and food in my stomach, but more than I desire to have it to do those things, I desire it to not a be an issue.

However, I do like to have it. After the bills are paid I like to spend all that I have on my kids and my significant other. So you could say that besides it being trouble to me, you could say it is a way to make my most loved ones happy.

Money....instinctively, i think of debt...my own, my friend's, 3rd world....it is sad to think that the world is governed by money....and it has been this way for ages...for example, love was based around a dowry. A family was more concerned with safety and security than love and true happiness.

Money to me personally, means independance, freedom, and security. As long as i have money, i have a will to live. Only joking, thats sex. haha.

The problem is that this world is completely capitalised. For example, The US, is a completely capital nation....the world trade centre. The whole September 11th incident......it all began because you are so obseessed with money...Osama Bin Laden was filled with hate against the capitalisation and comercialisation of America.

I don't say that America are alone in this, as the UK has joined the bandwagon, and i think it is sad....a lot of people list money very high in their priorities .

The words comfort and security spring to mind when I think of money. I lived with very little of it as a young child, and having a little more of it now is a definite improvement I can tell you.
Pople probably list money so high in their priorities because, right or wrong it is a priority. If you want a roof over your head, you need money. If you want heat and light, you need money. If you want to eat, you need money, because owning a home is like throwing cash down a bottomless pit... Its a pain, but like it or not its a necessity. Without money there would be no music, no mobile phones, no going to clubs and more imprtantly no health service. ambulances or fire brigade and no rubbish collections, our current standard of living would come to a complete end. I live in the suburbs of a large city in the North of England I see what having no money does to people every time I travel into the city centre, they are standing on the corners of streets selling The Big Issue....

I'm not saying that the the lust for wealth, corporate or otherwise is a good thing, its just a fact of life.

Its maybe a bit harsh to blame the US and capitalism for 9/11..Osama bin Laden is hardly a reasonable man in fact he is as crazy as a loon... He hates everyone who doesn't agree with his twisted ideas of Islaam, even fellow muslims. He's entitled to believe in whatever he sees fit to believe in but not at the expense of all those people. Incidentally, he's also filthy rich and a complete hypocrit.

after wrestling with the idea of taking a month off (unpaid) to visit my family, i have determined that reliance on money for freedom is actually very limiting.

financial security feels like a ball and chain around my ankle. dragging me down and preventing me from taking risks...

After conveying the question through my mind a few times I have come up with an explanation of what money means to me.

What came to me is that money means both everything and nothing to me.

All that I own somehow originated from the position of money.
But at the same time, I am a teen and still live with my family so if I don’t have any money, I don’t need it. Eating, sleeping or having fun my parents will still take care of it.
