To Avoid Guilt |

1. Recognize - Recognize the feeling of guilt as it occurs, first and foremost. Calmly accept the feeling as real without reaction, to understand its nature. 2. Source - Pinpoint two aspects of the guilt: What you are doing that is causing it, and what you can do to remove it. Dissasociate yourself from the feeling as best you can in order to then determine the nature of what you are doing that is causing it (and whether this is legitimate or not). Common pitfalls include overanalysis (resulting in unsure conclusions). The most correct way to determine the righteousness of any action is to determine the honest intention behind it. 3. Fortitude - If the source is justified (in that you are correct in your behaviour) then you will naturally feel strong in your decision. The guilt will then be suffocated, and if it does not then you must re-process step #2 in order to fortify within yourself the righteousness of your action. 4. Discipline - Never respond by neutralizing guilt if the source is not justified. |
