As she sits there, trying to crochet her time away, She glances randomly, at the chair to her right Her aged fallen face, staring in silence At the place, where her warmth used to be The warmth that kept her safe From the meandering world around From the harshness of time passing Warmth, that kept the little girl inside her Playing, and laughing, in colourful fields of day She sighs at her loss For now the little girl inside her, no longer has her guardian So instead, she sits quietly, inside herself The little girl cowering with her arms around her knees And her head bowed down in silence Whilst the woman outside stares, at the empty chair to her right Here eyes empty and sullen When they once used to glimmer Her mouth tuned downward Where it once used to grin, that humorous grin The lines of time on her face now scars, now lines of age When they once became radiant and animated Telling stories and sharing memories Of a life spent with love Tears slowly well For every glance to her right Is another reminder Of the pain Of the smiles Of the memories Of the moments when she had him Sitting there, on the chair to her right The threads of their existence intertwined Her life embedded in his Her love instilled with his And as the image on the chair begins to fade The tear trickles down her frail face Before her hands begin again To crochet her time away. |
