| There he was... innocent. I could see it in his eyes and no where else. His pain was not self-inflicted. His hopes were not selfish. How could he exist and more importantly... how could he have suddenly been given to me? I could not deserve such a happiness no matter how much I tried to believe that I did. It was all painted with a tragic loneliness. He frightens me, for he gives me a reason to hope and lose it again. One slow death is enough for a lifetime... |
