Memories of Black |

My eyes close as memories strike Of difficult times, without light. I recall the difficulty in smiling I recall the pointlessness of trying. Slow times... when minutes ticked by. Believing it's worth it, feeling like a lie. A tribute feels in the right, To commemerate this warrior of light. He is in the past of me Fading away in misery A soldier forgotten but proud. Loyal and strong, faithful aloud. The time of peace is here The soldier's demise is near And finally, as i see him kneel. I can't help but possibly feel The regret of his innocent loss Like a martyr on a cross. I rest on my knees and face him My eyes locked at his figure within. And he goes. With no sounds to echo. Here I remain, unprotected. As it should be, my soul resurrected. I stand up, fearfully strong. And as i gaze in the mirror, At my recognized visage, I see the dark times have gone on and on. They have gone on far too long. |
